Bacteria rapidly develop resistance to new antibiotic

Published: 23 April 2001The new antibiotic linezolid has so far been effective against bacteria resistant to other antibiotics. But a limited study now indicates that vancomycin-resistant enterococcus can quickly become resistant to linezolid during extended treatment.
