raised to the power 0.2, so as to resolve structure in the low-density regions; the
ranges of the right-hand panels were chosen to emphasize the most interesting features
of the densities. The red, green, blue, cyan and magenta dots refer to N = 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 'good' cell pairs, respectively. Black dots have more than six good
cell pairs. The yellow line in the top-left panel represents |LR| = SE, so that points
below the line have signal-to-noise ratios > 1. The SE for the red dots (N = 1) is artificially set to 0.001 for plotting purposes; it should strictly be 0.
