Transcription in mitochondria is increased as a result of overexpression of the nuclear HAP4 gene. Northern analysis of wild-type and HAP4-overexpressing cells grown logarithmically in rich glucose medium. Transcripts from COX1, COX2 and SCEI are expressed from the mitochondrial genome. PDA1 mRNA is used as internal control. Transcriptional changes were quantified and indicated as a percentage of the wild-type transcript level.
