A phylogeny derived and displayed according to the procedure outlined in the legend to Figure 2, except that complete protein sequences were used, not just those of the ATP-binding cassettes. The genome of origin for each protein is indicated by prefixes before each gene name, according the following scheme: Ce, C. elegans; Dm, D. melanogaster; Hs, H. sapiens; Sc, S. cerevisiae.
