Bidirectional transcription of a novel chimeric gene mapping to mouse chromosome Yq

Peter JI Ellis, Lydia Ferguson, Emily J Clemente, Nabeel A Affara BMC Evolutionary Biology 2007, 7:171 (24 September 2007)

The male-specific region of the mouse Y chromosome hosts a chimeric locus, Orly, which is transcribed bidirectionally from promoters located at each end and may be involved in an intragenomic conflict between X and Y chromosomes.
