Codon context maps are species specific. Comparison of the genomic codon context maps
of S. cerevisiae, C. albicans, S. pombe and E. coli shows that they are all different. There are common features between the maps but
differences are clearly visible, indicating that each species has a specific set of
codon context rules. Among the common features, the green diagonal line in the yeast
maps is the most relevant. This diagonal indicates that almost all codons prefer themselves
as their 3' neighbors and is strongly marked in the C. albicans context map, suggesting that in this species, tandem codon repetition is very common.
