Ethanol inhibits LPS-induced signaling and modulates cytokine production in peritoneal macrophages in vivo in a model for binge drinking

Stephen B Pruett, Ruping Fan BMC Immunology 2009, 10:49 (18 September 2009)

In a mouse model of binge drinking, ethanol-infused mice show an impaired response to bacterial lipopolysaccharide, with reduced intracellular responses in peritoneal macrophages, and suppressed production of pro-inflammatory cytokines.
