Methods for quantifying relative protein and mRNA levels give similar results. Average expression of kni mRNA at the beginning of stage 5 (7 embryos) is compared to kni protein expression at mid-stage 5 (17 embryos). The two graphs show the expression along the a/p axis (x-axis) at the ventral (top graph) and dorsal (bottom graph) midlines.
