Distribution of intron sizes in D. virilis compared to D. melanogaster. Introns from all D. virilis and D. melanogaster genes in the contigs studied were separated into groups based on size. The number
on the x axis represents the minimal intron size; an intron is counted in that bin if it has
that many bases or fewer. The y axis tallies the percent of total introns that fall into that bin. The two dot chromosomes
have significantly similar intron size distributions, which differ significantly from
those of the major chromosome arms.
