Comparison of transposase connection protein identity for pairs in conserved neighborhoods
(blue) versus non-conserved neighborhoods (red). The sharp drop-off in identity for
pairs in conserved neighborhoods suggests a rapid loss of transposases, while the
lower identity for pairs in non-conserved neighborhoods suggests an acquisition of
transposases from a diverse population of transposases.
