The files chr*.cyto give the cytoband cutpoints as estimated from the assembly using Loess and polynomial regression. The Loess regression fits are displayed in synchronizeloess.pdf or synchronizeloess.ps. The original cytoband cutpoints (before regression fitting) are displayed in grey on both axes, and the x-coordinate for each point is the middle of the cytoband to which it reportedly belongs. The centromere is in grey, and the regression fit forced to be horizontal throught the centromere. A third-degee polynomial fit was more appropriate for chromosomes 19 and X, due to the spacing of informative data points, and are displayed in synchronize3.pdf or synchronize3.ps. Outliers (see notes in main paper text) are circled and were not used in the regression fits. The results for chromosomes 21 and 22 did not differ substantially from simple linear stretching, and so were left unchanged to accord with the published reports of those chromosomes. Few data points can be found for chromosome Y, and simple linear stretching was applied.
